Transformational Leadership

A two-day training event
March 6-7, 2007


Description: This 2 day intensive learning event will highlight the unique perspective of middle leaders in the context of transforming library systems. Participants engage in self-assessment, creative activity, case study and small- and large-group discussions. Participants analyze challenges of leadership from systems and self-awareness perspectives, clarify personal goals, and learn from peers and colleagues who are similarly situated.

Why take this course? Clarify, refine and/or validate your thinking about personal transition and system transformation, understand your strengths and build confidence in your role as a middle leader, and develop strategies to enhance your effectiveness.

Topic covered include:

  • Capturing and contrasting group models of leadership with capacities and competencies identified through contemporary research
  • Exploring the changing landscape of library systems and information access
  • Defining the unique role of the middle leader
  • Creating momentum through energy and clarity.

Staff:Davita Crawford is a Training and Development Consultant at Developing Human Capital in Washington, D.C. She specializes in assisting employees, work groups, cross-functional teams, and leaders to operate successfully in today’s complex organizational systems.
