Task Force Decision
24 x 7 Reference

Accept the recommendations of the Task Force. Implement 24x7 on behalf of five interested institutions as pilot project in concept. Directors from nine institutions indicated interest in institutional participation. Management Council to develop funding model.A new task force will be created for the project's implementation phase.

Virtual Catalog Functionality

Accept the recommendations of the Task Force. Explore further two products for serial searching as recommended by the Task Force. The work of the new task force will be combined in consideration with the virtual catalog evaluation outcome. The new Task Force will begin its work in the first quarter of 2003.

Electronic Resources

Accept the recommendations of the Task Force. Management Council will articulate a program based on the Task Force's recommendations. The Board will vote by e-mail. Ask Task Force to provide decision making model. Special libraries will be represented in the final funding model.Establish Task Force to examine current institutional subscriptions for cost savings. Sponsor a symposium on new models for pricing electronic resources.

Resource Sharing Statistics

Accepted the recommendations of the Task Force. Implementation to begin July 1, 2002.

Digitization

Accept the recommendations of the Task Force. Develop new charge and create new Task Force (s) that will organize a one-day work shop to discuss ongoing projects and implementation; explore use of BLC website as clearinghouse for institutional digitization projects; create a digital advisory group to coordinate collaborative projects and grants.

Portal Task Force

Accept the recommendation to investigate further the development of a staff portal as a pilot project.

Environmental Studies

No action is needed.

Staff Development

Staff development activities will be incorporated into future task force charges that are related to the BLC goals. The BLC office will provide infrastructure for broad based programming.
