Evaluate the Virtual Reference Pilot Project.
Action Items:
Using methodology from previous task force:
- Analyze session transcripts to assess both quality and quantity and analysis of surveys from patrons using the service as well as participating BLC librarians.
- Answer questions on satisfaction with service, value of students, and continuation of the program.
- Compare results from this survey with that of previous results.
- Make recommendation to: continue service with current vendor, continue service and explore other vendors, discontinue service. Provide information supporting this decision.
Communication: The Task Force will communicate with the BLC community through news items on the BLC's web page, BLC-L, and any COI that may have interest in the project. The Task Force will work closely with the BLC Office and the Project Manager to ensure that information about the project is distributed.
Staff Development: The Task Force will hold at least one program for the BLC community to announce the project. Periodic updates may also be held as needed. Other programming possibilities are encouraged.
Goal: This task force is aligned with the BLC Goal: Entrepreneurial Projects. Specifically, the goal notes: To build a 24/7/365 information service provided by member institutions or in cooperation with other consortia with similar needs and means, in order to meet defined information needs of the BLC's primary constituency groups and/or wider scholarly community.
