Charge


Evaluate current consortium card policies and procedures and determine its effectiveness in the current environment. Explore the existence of software that will permit reciprocal borrowing

Action Items:
  1. Review current policies and determine how consistent policies and procedures are followed
  2. Recommend whether or not to continue the current consortium card policy
  3. Create or revise current policies and procedures if the recommendation is to continue the current policy
  4. Determine if software exists that will negate the need for consortium cards
Communication:

The Task Force will communicate with the BLC community through news items on the BLC's web page, BLC-L, and any COI that may have interest in the project. The Task Force will work closely through the BLC Office and the Director Liaison to make sure information about the project is distributed.

Staff Development:

The Task Force may hold at least one program for the BLC community on this topic.

Goal:

This task force is aligned with the BLC Goal: Resource Sharing, "To offer resource sharing opportunities and expeditious delivery of materials (electronic and print) to support the research and teaching of the BLC's constituency." And specifically, "To allow users of all member libraries to have "walk-in" access to the resources of all other member libraries."
