What is a community of Interest, or a CoI?
It's a group of individuals who share knowledge and best practices.
What do you do in a CoI?
Joining a CoI provides an opportunity (in person and virtually) to:
- Identify issues or initiatives for the BLC Board to address
- Act as a resource for BLC Task Forces
- Suggest staff development programs, related to the BLC Goals, to the Task Force
Who can belong?
Any staff member from a BLC member institution can join a CoI.
How to join?
Write to admin@blc.org. Include your work email address and the name of the Community of Interest you wish to join. Additionally, you may contact a colleague in the CoI or the CoI's dedicated convenor(s), if it has one. Click here for a list of CoIs and convenors.
How do you start a CoI?
Send a note to BLC.Announce@lists.unh.edu and ask if others are interested. Once you have determined interest, send a note to admin@blc.org and request a listserv account.
When can a CoI start?
Anytime following the instructions outlined above.
How often do CoIs meet?
Each CoI decides its own meeting schedule and how to meet whether it be through conference calls, video conferencing, e-mail, or face-to-face.
