Who can belong?Any staff member from a BLC member institution can join a CoI.How to join?Write to admin@blc.org. Include your work email address and the name of the Community of Interest you wish to join. Additionally, you may contact a colleague in the CoI or the CoI's dedicated convenor(s), if it has one. Click here for a list of CoIs and conveners.How do you start a CoI?Send a note to BLC.Announce@lists.unh.edu and ask if others are interested. Once you have determined interest, send a note to admin@blc.org and request a listserv account.When can a CoI start?Anytime following the instructions outlined above.How often do CoIs meet?Each CoI decides its own meeting schedule and how to meet whether it be through conference calls, video conferencing, e-mail, or face-to-face.If my COI wants to meet in person, will the office help me arrange for meeting space?Yes, we have 2 meeting spaces available at our office in downtown Boston that will comfortably accommodate up to 12 people. Please contact admin@blc.org if you would like to arrange a meeting. Institutions are also encouraged to host meetings at their own libraries.
If my COI would like to meet, but we can't have an in person meeting, what are our options?We have a conference call service, and online meetings or webinars available through GoTo Meeting. Please contact the office for more details.
My COI would like to post it's meeting minutes and other information online. Can we do this on the BLC website?Yes you may! Each COI is entitled to dedicated space on the BLC's website that they can administer themselves. If you would like to set up your website please contact Amanda Schmidt at aschmidt@blc.org or (617) 262-2872. The convener or main contact person at the COI must have a Google account in order to administer the site. If you do not have an account one can be obtained for free or the office can provide you with a login.
