Goal 1 - Entrepreneurial Initiative: The BLC PortalGoal Statement:
To establish the Boston Library Consortium as the gateway of choice to both the resources and services of the member institutions and to the wider electronic environment by developing a web site based on the values and principles of the research community.
To take advantage of available technology, staff expertise, and collective information resources to advance the teaching, research, and service missions of the member institutions.
To develop entrepreneurial initiatives that exploits the resources of the Boston Library Consortium in order to deliver content or services to new or expanding markets.
Goal 2 - Staff Development and TrainingGoal Statement:
To provide staff members of Boston Library Consortium institutions with programs that will: inform them about current developments and best practices in information technology, library operations and management, and higher education; enhance their skills in areas relevant to academic library operations and BLC programs; encourage personal and professional growth; and ensure improved understanding and support for the BLC's vision and programs.
Goal 3 - Contract Negotiation Goal Statement:
To maximize the collective strength of the BLC to obtain resources that can be provided readily to the BLC constituency.
Staff must be technologically astute in areas of network protocols, etc. Consortium members must be financially able to play in this arena to make the "clout" factor work.
Goal 4 - Resource Sharing and Timely Delivery of MaterialsGoal Statement:
To offer resource sharing opportunities and expeditious delivery of materials (electronic and print) to support the research and teaching of the BLC's constituency.
