Boston Library Consortium presents A Day of Scholarly Communication on April 22, 2008 at the Boston Public Library.

During this program, you will obtain the most recent information about several scholarly communication topics from BLC colleagues who have attended the ARL/ACRL Institute on Scholarly Communication. You will engage in exercises that give you concrete action plans to assist you in moving your institution forward with scholarly communication initiatives. There will be a series of panel discussions in the morning that include Author Rights, the NIH Public Access Policy, and recent digital repository developments at some of our BLC Institutions. After a quick lunch on your own, the program reconvenes for a keynote presentation on digital publishing activities at Brown University by PatrickYott. The afternoon will focus on the development of your own “Institutional Plan” convened by guest Barbara DeFelice (Dartmouth College) and facilitated by several BLC member librarians. The program will conclude after a stimulating discussion of advocacy efforts and next steps that we all can take as we advance the scholarly communication conversation at our respective campuses.
